CHANGE OF WARD NAME
The Local Government Boundary Commission changed the name of our ward from Rea Valley to Minsterley; so many local Parish Councillors were not happy about the change so a petition was sent to Shropshire Council.
Shropshire Council confirmed its decision to support the name change on 24 June 2010; this has subsequently been accepted by the Local Government Boundary Commission. ... more
Cllr Mrs Jennifer Brown
It is with great sadness that the Council has to announce that Jennifer Brown passed away on Thursday 12 August 2010.
Condolences go to Cllr Geoff Brown in this time of sorrow from all the members of the Council and the Clerk, Louise Walsgrove; Jennifer will be greatly missed by all her family, friends and colleagues.

MINSTERLEY BRIDGE
The work on Minsterley Bridge is now FINISHED!
Work commenced on 22 February and the projection was that it would be finished late August, so by finishing a month earlier that expected is really good news.

PARISH MEETING
Minsterley residents attended the annual Parish Meeting in the Parish Hall on Tuesday April 13; following reports from the Chairman of the Council, Clerk, Minsterley Parish School, Parish Hall Committee and Tudor Bebb, Shropshire Councillor, questions were asked of the Council; in particular the housing development at the top of Callow Lane; several residents alleged that the access had been changed and the houses are not as originally planned; this was causing considerable concern.
Councillor Tudor Bebb, Shropshire Councillor on the Planning Committee explained that amendments had been applied for and there was no statutory requirement that residents or the Parish Council would be consulted about the proposed changes. ... more
VOLUNTEER WANTED
The Parish Council would be interested if there was a Minsterley resident who would be willing to patrol the village and note footpaths and lanes that are littered and need clearing.
The village sweeping by Shropshire Council doesn't come frequently enough to control the litter. ... more

Application for Grants
The Parish Hall Management Committee applied for a grant from the Local Joint Committee to tarmac the carpark that hasn't been surfaced; it was big disappointment to learn that the application was not successful!
The matter was discussed at the December meeting and a resolution was passed that the Clerk should apply for a grant from the Awards for All Lottery; Louise Walsgrove completed the application and it was sent on Monday 28 December; let's all keep our fingers crossed that the application will be successful and the long awaited work on the carpark can be done. ... more
Budget for 2010 - 2011
It is customary for the council to discuss the budget for the following financial year in November; once it is approved by the council, an application for the precept is sent to Shropshire Council in January.
The Council duly approved the budget at the November meeting; in spite of the annual rise in the cost of electricity for the village lights, the good news is that the precept for the year 2010 - 2011 will remain the same as this financial year, £14,650. ... more
Lottery Grant
Following several months of search for funding, Louise Walsgrove, Clerk to the Council has been successful in obtaining a grant towards the cost of installing Outdoor Adult Exercise Equipment. The equipment will be installed adjacent to the children’s playground in the Parish Hall grounds. ... more

As we are all aware, the long awaited work on Minsterley Bridge is due to commence in February 2010. Farewell to Bronwen Evans
Bronwen did not seek nomination for the June 2009 elections;after thirty seven years serving on the council either as Chairman or Vice Chairman, she decided it was time to retire.
