It was announced at the Council meeting on Tuesday February 9 that the work on Minsterley Bridge will commence on Monday February 15.The contract has been awarded to the Telford based contractor, McPhillips (Wellington) Limited.

Cancellation of Parish Council meeting
Due to the difficult road conditions, it was decided to cancel the Parish Council meeting on Tuesday 12 January;
although all the members agreed to try and get to the Parish Hall, it was somewhat doubtful if enough members would actually turn up to make a quorum.
Louise Walsgrove, the Clerk who lives on Pontesbury Hill is snowed up; Councillor Geoff Rogers offered to collect her and take her home but he would have been unable to get up the hill as it is presently so dangerous with ice and snow. ... more

Application for Grants
The Parish Hall Management Committee applied for a grant from the Local Joint Committee to tarmac the carpark that hasn't been surfaced; it was big disappointment to learn that the application was not successful!
The matter was discussed at the December meeting and a resolution was passed that the Clerk should apply for a grant from the Awards for All Lottery; Louise Walsgrove completed the application and it was sent on Monday 28 December; let's all keep our fingers crossed that the application will be successful and the long awaited work on the carpark can be done. ... more
Budget for 2010 - 2011
It is customary for the council to discuss the budget for the following financial year in November; once it is approved by the council, an application for the precept is sent to Shropshire Council in January.
The Council duly approved the budget at the November meeting; in spite of the annual rise in the cost of electricity for the village lights, the good news is that the precept for the year 2010 - 2011 will remain the same as this financial year, £14,650. ... more
Lottery Grant
Following several months of search for funding, Louise Walsgrove, Clerk to the Council has been successful in obtaining a grant towards the cost of installing Outdoor Adult Exercise Equipment. The equipment will be installed adjacent to the children’s playground in the Parish Hall grounds. ... more

As we are all aware, the long awaited work on Minsterley Bridge is due to commence in February 2010. Farewell to Bronwen Evans
Bronwen did not seek nomination for the June 2009 elections;after thirty seven years serving on the council either as Chairman or Vice Chairman, she decided it was time to retire.
